Why is my Ford Edge having door lock problems?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-26-2024, 10:43 AM - Forum: Edge - No Replies

I swear, my Ford Edge seems to have a mind of its own sometimes. Lately, the driver’s door lock has been acting weird—it either refuses to lock or unlock unless I hit the key fob like 50 times, and even then, it’s a gamble. Has anyone else had this issue? I’m wondering if it’s a faulty actuator, maybe something with the wiring, or even the key fob itself? It’s getting really frustrating, especially when I’m in a hurry and can’t even lock the car! I’d rather avoid a trip to the dealership if it’s something I can fix on my own. Any tips, tricks, or similar experiences would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, guys!

Ugh, that service maintenance reminder is driving me nuts! I know I did the oil change, but it just won’t go away. How do I turn this thing off? Any quick hacks? Thanks in advance!

What’s the recommended tire pressure for a Ford Edge?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-25-2024, 09:49 PM - Forum: Edge - No Replies

Hey everyone, just curious—what’s the right tire pressure for the Ford Edge? I’ve got a 2020 and wanna make sure I’m running things correctly. I think it’s supposed to be around 35 PSI, but any confirmation would be great. Also, do you all adjust tire pressure depending on the season?

Does the 2020 Ford Edge have the same lug pattern as earlier models?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-25-2024, 09:49 PM - Forum: Edge - No Replies

Anyone know if the lug pattern on the 2020 Ford Edge matches up with the older ones? I’ve got a set of wheels from a 2018, and I’m thinking of putting them on my 2020. Need to be sure before I start swapping things around. Anyone tried it yet?

What is the 0-60 time for a Ford Edge?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-25-2024, 09:48 PM - Forum: Edge - No Replies

So, I just got my 2019 Edge and, naturally, had to test the 0-60. I clocked in around 6.1 seconds. Anyone else done this? Seems pretty fast for an SUV. But hey, my foot’s heavy. Curious to know how others are doing with their Edge!

What’s the lug pattern for a 2020 Ford Edge?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-25-2024, 09:48 PM - Forum: Edge - No Replies

Hey everyone, I’ve seen a few questions pop up about the 2020 Ford Edge’s lug pattern, so I thought I’d share it here. It’s a 5x108 pattern, which is the same as several other Ford models. If you’re thinking about swapping wheels or upgrading, just make sure to match that pattern, and you should be good to go. Also, don’t forget about the lug nut size—12x1.5mm. Keep those wheels secure, people!

Where can I find a fuel line diagram for a Ford Edge?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-25-2024, 09:47 PM - Forum: Edge - No Replies

Hey folks, I’ve been working on my 2015 Ford Edge and realized I need the fuel line diagram. Does anyone know where I can find one or has a good resource? Looked through the manual, but nothing there. Help a guy out before I mess something up lol.

How to Fix Ford Fusion P1450 Code: Bleeding Fuel Tank Pressure Explained
Posted by: Nicko - 09-24-2024, 01:06 PM - Forum: Error codes - No Replies

Hey Fusion owners, if you’ve run into the P1450 code, you’re not alone. This code indicates that your car can’t properly bleed the fuel tank pressure, which is usually related to the EVAP system. The good news? This problem is common, and many DIYers can fix it without taking a trip to the dealership.

Common Causes of P1450:

  1. Faulty Purge Valve: The purge valve controls the flow of fuel vapors from the fuel tank to the engine. If it’s stuck open or closed, it can cause pressure to build up in the tank.
  2. Clogged EVAP Canister: The canister stores fuel vapors before they’re burned in the engine. If it’s clogged or damaged, it can prevent the system from releasing pressure.
  3. Damaged Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor: The sensor that monitors fuel tank pressure can fail, sending incorrect data to the ECU.

Steps to Fix:

  1. Check the Purge Valve: Start by inspecting the purge valve, which is part of the EVAP system. If it’s stuck or malfunctioning, it can’t vent the fuel vapors properly. You can test it using a multimeter or vacuum pump, and if it’s bad, replacing it is relatively easy and inexpensive.
  2. Inspect the EVAP Canister: If the purge valve seems fine, take a look at the EVAP canister. Check for signs of clogging or physical damage. If it’s clogged, you’ll need to replace it, as cleaning usually isn’t effective.
  3. Test the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor: If you’re still seeing the P1450 code, it’s time to test the fuel tank pressure sensor. A faulty sensor can cause the ECU to think there’s an issue when there isn’t. Replace it if needed.

Once you’ve fixed the issue, reset the code using an OBD-II scanner and take the car for a test drive. If the code doesn’t come back, you’re good to go. This isn’t a problem you want to ignore for too long—while it might not seem like a big deal now, it can lead to fuel efficiency problems and emissions failures down the road. Happy wrenching!

Ford Codes P2196 and P2198 - O2 Sensor Signal Biased Rich, What Could Be Wrong?
Posted by: v8ismyheart - 09-24-2024, 12:58 PM - Forum: Error codes - No Replies

Hey everyone, my 2015 Ford Explorer is throwing both P2196 and P2198 codes. They’re saying the O2 sensor signals are biased rich in both banks. I’m getting terrible gas mileage, and it smells like it’s running rich. Has anyone else had this issue? I’ve already replaced the air filter, so I’m wondering if it could be something with the fuel system or maybe a vacuum leak. Any ideas on what I should check next? Thanks in advance!
