Not sure if anyone’s attempted this, but is it even possible to DIY a transmission repair on a Ford Escape? My transmission’s been acting up recently, and I’ve noticed some pretty concerning symptoms—like rough shifting between gears, especially from 2nd to 3rd, and a delay when shifting into reverse. There’s also a weird whining noise that gets louder as I accelerate. I’d prefer to avoid a massive repair bill if possible, but I’ve heard transmissions are tricky and not exactly something you want to mess up.
So, has anyone successfully tackled this as a DIY project? What tools did you need, and was it something you could do in your garage? Or am I just setting myself up for disaster? I’m all for getting my hands dirty, but I don’t want to make it worse. Should I just wave the white flag and take it to a mechanic before I cause more damage? Any insight would be awesome!
