Which way do lug nuts go on a Ford Escape wheel?
Posted by: v8ismyheart - 09-23-2024, 01:32 PM - Forum: Escape - No Replies

I know this sounds dumb, but I’m about to change a tire, and now I’m doubting myself – which way do the lug nuts go on? Clockwise to tighten, right? My neighbor said something about lefty-loosey, but now I’m second-guessing myself here. Help a guy out before I embarrass myself more!

Why does my Ford Escape pull to the right when braking?
Posted by: v8ismyheart - 09-23-2024, 01:25 PM - Forum: Escape - No Replies

So, my 2018 Ford Escape has recently developed this annoying habit of pulling to the right every time I brake. It’s not crazy strong, but it’s noticeable enough that I’m getting concerned.  Is this the kind of issue where I need to panic yet? I’ve been reading online, and it sounds like it could be a few different things – brake pads, alignment, maybe even a stuck caliper?

From what I understand, a pulling issue can happen if the brake pads on one side are more worn than the other. But, I also heard that if it’s an alignment problem, the car would pull even when I’m not braking, and mine drives straight unless I’m slowing down.  Could it be a problem with the calipers? Maybe one side’s not gripping as well?

Also, I haven’t noticed any strange noises, vibrations, or dashboard lights. Should I check the brake fluid levels, or could it be something more complicated? Anyone else had their Escape act up like this? Not sure if I can live with the tug every time I hit the brakes, or if I need to book a trip to the mechanic. Let me know if you've experienced this or have any advice!

What does the master warning light mean in a Ford Escape?
Posted by: v8ismyheart - 09-23-2024, 01:20 PM - Forum: Escape - No Replies

So my Escape decided to surprise me with a bright red triangle master warning light today. 😅 From what I’ve read, the master warning light can indicate a variety of issues, but the thing is, the car seems to be running just fine! I already checked the basics like oil levels, tire pressure, and brake fluid, but nothing seems off.

Does anyone know what else could trigger this light? Could it be something like a sensor malfunction or something bigger like an electrical issue? I’ve seen some people mention battery or alternator problems, but I’d hate to jump to conclusions. I don’t want to rush to the dealer if it’s something simple I can fix myself. Maybe it's something I’m overlooking? Has anyone dealt with this? Trying not to freak out, but driving around with that red triangle staring at me isn’t exactly calming!

How often should spark plugs be changed in a Ford Escape?
Posted by: v8ismyheart - 09-23-2024, 01:18 PM - Forum: Escape - No Replies

Hey guys, quick question. I’ve got a 2017 Ford Escape and was wondering how often you need to swap out the spark plugs? Mine's been running a little rough lately, so maybe that's the issue? Heard it’s like every 30k miles, but can anyone confirm? Or am I just being paranoid?

Michelin CrossClimate 2 vs Defender for a Ford Edge: Which is better?
Posted by: v8ismyheart - 09-23-2024, 12:56 PM - Forum: Edge - No Replies

Hey folks, I’m getting ready to swap out the tires on my 2018 Ford Edge (2.0L EcoBoost AWD) and I’m seriously torn between the Michelin CrossClimate 2 and the Michelin Defender. I drive my Edge all year round in pretty varied conditions—think everything from heavy rain and slush in the winter to dry roads in the summer. I don’t do any crazy off-roading, but I do take the occasional trip to the mountains where snow and ice can be an issue.

From what I’ve read, the CrossClimate 2 seems to handle snow and wet conditions like a champ, but I’ve also heard the Defender is better for longevity and fuel efficiency. Anyone here running either of these on their Edge? How do they hold up in real-world conditions? I’m especially curious if the CrossClimate 2 lives up to the hype in winter, and if the Defender’s wear life is really as good as people say.

Or should I just flip a coin and hope for the best? Let me know what y’all think before I pull the trigger on one set!

How often should spark plugs be changed on a Ford Edge?
Posted by: v8ismyheart - 09-23-2024, 12:51 PM - Forum: Edge - No Replies

Alright, so I know spark plugs don’t last forever, but how often should I actually be changing them on my Edge? I’ve got about 60,000 miles on mine, and it’s been running fine...but I don’t wanna wait till something goes wrong. Any tips on when to swap them out?

Check engine light on and cruise control not working on my Ford Edge
Posted by: v8ismyheart - 09-23-2024, 12:29 PM - Forum: Edge - No Replies

Help! So, my 2015 Ford Edge with the 2.7L EcoBoost has been acting up lately. First, the check engine light randomly popped on while I was driving down the highway, and then, like clockwork, my cruise control just stopped working. Now, I know these two systems aren’t directly connected (or at least I think they’re not), but it’s super weird that they both went out at the same time. No other warning lights, no weird noises, just those two issues.

Has anyone else had this happen? I’ve been doing some digging online and seeing mixed suggestions—some say it could be the throttle body, others say it might be a sensor issue, or even something with the brake light switch. I really don’t wanna take it to the dealer just yet if this is something I can troubleshoot myself. Could it be a bad fuse or loose wiring? Any advice on where to start looking before I’m forced to cough up some cash at the shop? Appreciate any help from fellow Edge owners!

Correct oil drain plug torque for a Ford Edge: What’s recommended?
Posted by: v8ismyheart - 09-23-2024, 12:16 PM - Forum: Edge - No Replies

Hey everyone, I’m planning to tackle my own oil change this weekend on my 2016 Ford Edge with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine, and I wanna make sure I don’t mess up the oil drain plug. I’ve heard stories about people overtightening and stripping the plug or even damaging the oil pan, so I’m trying to avoid that headache.

I’ve seen torque specs ranging anywhere from 18 ft-lbs to 30 ft-lbs, and I just wanna be sure I’m using the right number for my specific engine. What’s the actual recommended torque for the oil drain plug on a 2016 Edge 2.0L EcoBoost? I don’t wanna go too light and risk a leak either. If anyone’s done this before, let me know what’s worked for you! Appreciate any solid advice before I break out the torque wrench!

How often do I need to do a wheel alignment on my Ford Edge?
Posted by: v8ismyheart - 09-23-2024, 12:09 PM - Forum: Edge - No Replies

Quick Q for the crew: How often should I be getting a wheel alignment on my Ford Edge? I drive mostly highway but hit a couple of curbs now and then (no judgment, right?). The car feels fine, but I don’t wanna wait till it starts pulling all over the place. Thanks!

How cold should my Ford Edge’s AC be on a 100-degree day?
Posted by: v8ismyheart - 09-23-2024, 12:01 PM - Forum: Edge - No Replies

Quick one for the hot weather peeps: it’s been scorching out, like 100 degrees, and my Edge’s AC is blowing, but I feel like it’s not icy cold. How cold should it actually be? I don’t wanna think it’s broke if it’s just...doing its best. 😅 Any advice on what’s normal when the outside temp is crazy high?
