B1676 Code on My Ford - What's the Fix?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-10-2024, 08:38 PM - Forum: Error codes - No Replies

Hey, guys. I’m getting the B1676 code on my Ford Focus, and I’ve no clue what it means. It’s been showing up on my OBD reader, and I’m getting all sorts of electrical weirdness with the battery light coming on randomly. Anyone else deal with this before? Could it be the battery itself or something else? It’s driving me nuts. Any suggestions would be super appreciated!

Best Mufflers to Improve the Ford Explorer’s Exhaust Sound
Posted by: Nicko - 09-09-2024, 09:57 PM - Forum: Explorer - No Replies

If you're trying to give your Ford Explorer a bit more growl, changing out the stock mufflers is a solid move. I’ve seen a lot of owners go with Flowmaster or MagnaFlow to get that deeper, more aggressive sound. Both brands are known for making a huge difference in the exhaust tone without going too overboard. I’ve heard that Flowmaster tends to give you that classic, muscle car rumble, while MagnaFlow delivers a smoother, deeper note that’s still pretty impressive.

I’m currently running a MagnaFlow muffler on my 2021 Explorer with the 3.0L EcoBoost, and it’s just the right mix of loud enough to turn heads without annoying the neighbors.  Big Grin The sound is nice and deep but doesn’t drone on the highway. Anyone here have a different setup, maybe something a little more budget-friendly? I’ve heard Borla’s pretty good too, but I’ve never tried it. Share your experiences – whether you're after a performance boost or just want to make your Explorer sound meaner, we’d love to hear what’s working for you!

Coilovers for a Ford Explorer: Worth the upgrade for daily driving?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-09-2024, 09:51 PM - Forum: Explorer - No Replies

Is anyone running coilovers on their Explorer? I’m debating whether it’s worth the money just for a daily driver. I like the idea of lowering it a bit for better handling, but I’m worried it might ruin the ride comfort. What do you guys think?

Best lug nuts for aftermarket rims on a Ford Explorer?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-09-2024, 09:48 PM - Forum: Explorer - No Replies

Anyone know the best lug nuts for aftermarket rims on the Ford Explorer? I’ve seen some pretty flashy ones, but I want something strong and durable. Any recommendations?

Do I need hub centric rings for aftermarket wheels on my Ford Explorer?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-09-2024, 09:46 PM - Forum: Explorer - No Replies

I’ve got some aftermarket wheels, and a buddy told me I might need hub centric rings. Do I really need them for a 2019 Explorer? What happens if I don’t use them – just curious if it's more of a safety thing or just for smooth rides?

Ford Explorer floor mats: What are the best custom options?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-09-2024, 09:44 PM - Forum: Explorer - No Replies

I’m looking for custom floor mats for my Explorer that actually fit and don’t move around. Anyone recommend a brand? I’ve seen WeatherTech, but they’re pricey. Are they worth the money, or is there a good budget alternative?

What’s the steering wheel size of the Ford Explorer and can I upgrade it?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-09-2024, 09:43 PM - Forum: Explorer - No Replies

Does anyone know the steering wheel size on a 2015 Ford Explorer? I’m thinking about swapping it out for something sportier. Is that even possible, or should I just stick with a wheel cover? Anyone done a swap before?

What’s the Best Type of Wipers for a Ford Explorer in Heavy Rain?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-09-2024, 09:43 PM - Forum: Explorer - No Replies

For those of us who live in areas with constant rain or get hit by those surprise downpours, having the right set of wipers on your Ford Explorer can make all the difference. I’ve been running Bosch ICON wipers on my 2020 Explorer for a while now, and honestly, they’ve been fantastic. No streaking, no skipping, even in the heaviest rainstorms. They seem to last longer than the cheaper options, too, which is a big plus. I’ve also heard great things about Rain-X Latitude wipers – apparently, they have some kind of water-repellent coating that helps keep your windshield clearer.

Anyone else have experience with these, or maybe some other brands you swear by? I’d love to know what’s working for you, especially if you’ve been through some serious weather conditions. Let’s share the best options so we can all avoid those annoying streaky windshields when it’s coming down hard. What about the cheaper wipers – are they worth the savings, or do they fall apart after a few months?

Ford Explorer oil capacity for the 2023 model: Which engine oil to use?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-09-2024, 09:41 PM - Forum: Explorer - No Replies

Just picked up a 2023 Explorer, and I want to make sure I’m using the right oil. What’s the oil capacity for the new models, and is synthetic worth the extra cash? Trying to keep this baby running smooth for years.

Best mods to improve Ford Explorer gas mileage?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-09-2024, 09:38 PM - Forum: Explorer - No Replies

Alright, gas prices suck, and I need to do something about it. Anyone know the best mods to boost the Explorer’s gas mileage? I’ve heard a cold-air intake can help, but is it worth the cost? Any other cheap mods that make a difference?
