As a moderator, I’ve seen quite a few threads pop up about the 2.7 EcoBoost engine, and while it’s an impressive engine in terms of power and performance, there are a couple of issues that tend to surface. The big ones seem to be oil leaks, particularly around the oil pan, and turbocharger problems. It’s not something that happens to every Bronco, but if you’re looking to buy one, it’s definitely something to be aware of.
Some folks have reported these issues after a few thousand miles, while others seem to have no problems at all. A lot of it comes down to maintenance and how hard you're pushing the engine. If you’re doing a lot of off-roading or towing, you might see these problems sooner. Despite these hiccups, the 2.7 EcoBoost still packs a punch when it's working right. I’ve personally seen it perform like a champ on tough trails.
