Ford Explorer Interior Across Trims: What’s the Best Value?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-09-2024, 09:34 PM - Forum: Explorer - No Replies

When comparing the Ford Explorer interior across trims, there’s definitely a noticeable difference between the higher-end models like the Platinum and the more budget-friendly options. The 2021 Platinum trim is basically luxury on wheels – leather seats, wood accents, a twin-panel moonroof, and all the tech you could want, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen. If you’ve got the cash, it’s a seriously nice upgrade. But if you're like me and trying not to go broke, the mid-level trims like the XLT or Limited still offer a lot of comfort and tech features without the price tag.

I’ve got a 2021 XLT, and while I don’t have the fancy leather or the bigger screen, the seats are still super comfortable for long drives, and I’ve got enough tech to make me happy – plus, heated seats and a power liftgate! Anyone driving the base model (like the 2021 Explorer)? How’s it holding up in terms of comfort and tech? Does it feel too basic, or is it still a solid option if you’re on a tighter budget? Let’s hear it from those driving the less expensive trims – I’m curious how much I’m really missing out on!

Ford Explorer horsepower & engine options: Which one is the best?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-09-2024, 09:33 PM - Forum: Explorer - No Replies

Which engine is the best for a daily driver that also wants a bit of power on the weekends? I’m torn between the standard and the turbo. I’m not planning to tow much, but I like to push the gas pedal a little on the open road. Any thoughts?

How much ground clearance does the Ford Explorer have for off-roading?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-09-2024, 09:29 PM - Forum: Explorer - No Replies

For those considering the Ford Explorer for off-roading, you’ll be happy to know that the 2021 model, like many others, offers around 8.2 inches of ground clearance. It’s a decent amount for light off-roading, especially if you're planning on hitting some moderate trails or rough dirt roads. It’s not exactly on the same level as a Jeep Wrangler, but for an SUV that’s designed for family trips and everyday driving, it holds up pretty well on rough terrain.

I’ve taken my 2021 Explorer with the 2.3L EcoBoost out on a few trails, and while it’s not a rock crawler, it definitely handles mud and uneven ground better than I expected. That said, if you're planning any serious off-roading, you might want to add a lift kit or upgrade to all-terrain tires for a bit more confidence. Has anyone else here pushed their Explorer to the limit? Curious how the 3.0L V6 performs on tougher trails – anyone had any close calls or successes out there?

What’s the gas tank size of the Ford Explorer and how far can it go?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-09-2024, 09:24 PM - Forum: Explorer - No Replies

Hey all, I’ve got a 2020 Ford Explorer with the 2.3L EcoBoost engine, and I’m planning some long road trips soon. I know the gas tank size is around 18.6 gallons, but I’m curious about how far I can actually go on a full tank. On the highway, I’ve been getting around 27 MPG, but I’d love to hear from others with different engines or driving conditions. If anyone’s driving the 3.0L V6 or the hybrid model, how’s your range looking? Trying to figure out if I’ll need to stop for gas every few hours or if it can handle a good stretch between fill-ups!

Which Ford Explorer engine offers the best gas mileage?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-09-2024, 02:56 PM - Forum: Explorer - No Replies

If anyone's got experience with different Ford Explorer engines, I’m trying to figure out which one offers the best gas mileage. With gas prices going up again (thanks economy), I’m thinking of swapping mine out for a more efficient version. Turbo or V6 – what’s the winner for saving at the pump?

2018 Ford Explorer dimensions: Will it fit in my garage?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-09-2024, 02:48 PM - Forum: Explorer - No Replies

So, I’ve got a pretty tight garage (thanks, builders), and I’m looking at getting a 2018 Ford Explorer. Does anyone know if the Explorer will fit comfortably, or will I be doing the “inch forward and pray” routine every day? Anyone had any close calls fitting theirs in a small garage?

What’s the 0-60 time of the Ford Explorer for different engines?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-09-2024, 02:47 PM - Forum: Explorer - No Replies

Hey guys, I’ve been looking into upgrading my 2021 Ford Explorer, but I’m torn between the engine options. I’ve got the base 2.3L EcoBoost, but I’ve been eyeing the 3.0L V6 EcoBoost that comes with the ST trim. I’m wondering how much of a difference in 0-60 time I’d actually get with the upgrade. The base engine is pretty solid, but I want to know if the turbocharged V6 is worth the extra cash. Anyone here clocked their Explorer in real-world conditions? Also, if anyone’s driving the hybrid version, how does the 0-60 compare? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

What does the P2107 code mean on my Ford – Throttle actuator control module issue?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-09-2024, 11:53 AM - Forum: Error codes - No Replies

I’m getting a P2107 code on my Ford, and I’ve noticed the engine power has been reduced. Could this be an issue with the throttle actuator control module? Should I start by cleaning the throttle body to see if that helps? Also, if that doesn’t work, should I be looking into replacing the module itself or checking the wiring and connections?

How do I fix the P0155 code on my Ford – O2 sensor heater circuit issue?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-09-2024, 11:53 AM - Forum: Error codes - No Replies

Hey everyone, I’m dealing with a P0155 code on my 2006 Ford Taurus, which I think is related to the O2 sensor’s heater circuit. I’m getting poor fuel economy and some rough idling. I’ve checked the wiring, and it looks fine. Is my next step replacing the O2 sensor, or could there be something else causing the issue?

How do I fix a small EVAP leak on my Ford showing a P0456 code?
Posted by: Nicko - 09-09-2024, 11:52 AM - Forum: Error codes - No Replies

My 2012 Ford Escape is showing a P0456 code, which I understand is a small EVAP system leak. I already checked the gas cap, and it seems fine. What else should I be looking at? Could it be one of the hoses or a connection in the EVAP system? Has anyone had luck fixing this without needing to take it to a shop?
