Where Is the Starter Located on a 2001 Ford Ranger?

Hey fellows, struggeling here to find the exact location of the starter in a 2001 Ford Ranger. Some say it's easy to acces, others say u need to crawl into the nether world. Anyone with a detailed explanayshon?

The starter should be located on the passenger side of the engine, right below the exhaust manifold. It's a bit of a tight fit but you should see it below the cylinder head. Make sure to disconnect your battery first!

This topic feels like been covered a millyon times. But yeah, TechTim is right. If you go from underneath, it's less of a hassle. Just lay on your back and look up behind the engine block, near the transmission area.

Thanks! But why do you need to disconnect the battery? Is it for safety or some other reason? Never messed with starters before!
