Nitto Ridge Grappler vs. BFG KO2: Which Tire is Best for a Ford Edge?
#1
I’m trying to decide between the Nitto Ridge Grappler and the BFG KO2 for my Ford Edge. I do a mix of highway driving and light off-roading, so I need something versatile. The KO2s seem to have a great rep for off-road, but I’ve heard the Ridge Grapplers are quieter on pavement. What do you all think? Which one should I go for?

I’ve had experience with both the Nitto Ridge Grappler and the BFG KO2, and I can definitely share some insights that might help with your decision.

The BFG KO2s are legendary for off-roading, and they really shine when you’re hitting the trails. They’ve got excellent traction on dirt, gravel, and even in mud, thanks to their aggressive tread pattern. They’re also pretty tough and durable, so they can handle a lot of abuse. However, they’re known to be a bit noisy on the highway and might cause a slight drop in fuel efficiency due to their more aggressive design.

On the other hand, the Nitto Ridge Grapplers strike a nice balance between on-road comfort and off-road capability. They’re designed to be quieter on pavement, and in my experience, they really are. If you do a lot of highway driving, you’ll probably appreciate the reduced road noise compared to the KO2s. They still offer good off-road performance, though they might not be quite as rugged as the KO2s in extreme conditions.

Given that you’re doing a mix of highway driving and light off-roading, the Ridge Grapplers might be the better choice for versatility. They give you solid off-road performance without sacrificing too much comfort or noise levels on the pavement. But if your off-roading is more than just light trails and you want something that can really handle tough terrain, the KO2s would be worth considering, even if they’re a bit louder on the road.

Ultimately, it comes down to what you prioritize more—quiet and comfort on the highway or maximum off-road capability. Both are solid choices, so you really can’t go wrong!
