Is 10 percent ethanol bad for a Ford Bronco's engine?
#1
I’ve been hearing mixed opinions about whether using fuel with 10 percent ethanol is harmful to a Ford Bronco, particularly the older models. I drive a late 80s Bronco, and I’m concerned about how ethanol might affect it long-term. I know that newer engines are generally built to handle ethanol blends, but is this true for the older, carbureted Broncos?

Could the ethanol cause damage to components like fuel lines, seals, or the carburetor itself over time? I’ve read that it can wear down rubber parts in the fuel system, but how serious is this issue? Should I be searching for non-ethanol fuel when possible, or is it not worth the hassle? I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who’s run their Bronco on ethanol-blended fuel—how has it held up? Are there any specific precautions or additives I should be using to protect the engine and fuel system?
