How to Fix the P0316 Code on a Ford Ranger?
#1
Hey all, my Ranger threw a P0316 code, which I understand means "Engine Misfire Detected on Startup". Any tips on what to check first?

First thing to check is your spark plugs and ignition coils. Depending on the age of your Ranger, it might be time to replace these, especially if you've been noticing any misfires lately.

Sometimes a P0316 code also points to fuel issues. Give your fuel filter a check. If it's old or clogged, that could be causing insufficient fuel delivery.

Don't overlook checking for vacuum leaks and the proper functioning of your EGR system as well. Both can lead to misfiring issues, particularly during startups.

One more thing to check is your battery health and charging system, especially if the misfire notice comes when your engine is cold. Weak electrical power might cause this during the initial engine crank.
