How do I fix a "charging system failure" in my Ford Expedition?
#1
So, I got hit with the dreaded "charging system failure" warning on my 2017 Expedition today, and I’m trying to figure out what’s going on. From what I’ve read, this usually means there’s something up with either the alternator or the battery. I already checked the battery terminals, and they seem fine—no corrosion or loose connections that I could see.

Could this be a sign my alternator is failing? I’m at around 95,000 miles, so I guess it wouldn’t be shocking if that’s the case, but I really hope it’s something simpler. Has anyone else had this happen? I’ve heard it might just be a bad battery or even a loose belt, but I’m not sure where to start.

Also, if it is the alternator, how difficult is it to replace on a Ford Expedition? I’m fairly handy with tools, but I don’t want to get in over my head if it’s a huge job. Any advice or similar experiences would be super helpful! Let me know what you guys think or if there’s anything else I should check before I start replacing parts.
