What Is the Firing Order for a 4.0 Ford Ranger Coil Pack?
#7
I’ve been there before—it’s easy to get mixed up with the firing order when working on your truck, especially if you’re in the middle of replacing something like the coil. For your Ford Ranger 4.0, the firing order is 1-4-2-5-3-6.

Here’s how it works: if you’re standing in front of the engine, cylinders 1, 2, and 3 are on the passenger side from front to back, and cylinders 4, 5, and 6 are on the driver’s side, also front to back. Make sure you get the wires connected to the correct terminals on the coil pack—otherwise, you’ll end up with misfires or worse.

If you’ve already connected them and it doesn’t seem right, just double-check the order. It’s a straightforward fix once you know the correct sequence, and you’ll be back up and running smoothly. Good luck with the swap!
