Hey folks, I’m getting ready to swap out the tires on my 2018 Ford Edge (2.0L EcoBoost AWD) and I’m seriously torn between the Michelin CrossClimate 2 and the Michelin Defender. I drive my Edge all year round in pretty varied conditions—think everything from heavy rain and slush in the winter to dry roads in the summer. I don’t do any crazy off-roading, but I do take the occasional trip to the mountains where snow and ice can be an issue.
From what I’ve read, the CrossClimate 2 seems to handle snow and wet conditions like a champ, but I’ve also heard the Defender is better for longevity and fuel efficiency. Anyone here running either of these on their Edge? How do they hold up in real-world conditions? I’m especially curious if the CrossClimate 2 lives up to the hype in winter, and if the Defender’s wear life is really as good as people say.
Or should I just flip a coin and hope for the best? Let me know what y’all think before I pull the trigger on one set!
